FAQ
Shockwave therapy opens the door to recovery from those old or persistent ailments. Kickstarting your body’s metabolism through the use of safe, low-energy acoustic waves, it’s a non-invasive solution that encourages your body’s circulatory processes to naturally regenerate damaged tissue.
That’s the magic of shockwave therapy – since it relies on your body’s own healing abilities, it’s free from the limitations (and side effects!) of medicine-based treatments. And that’s also why it’s so effective at treating a range of conditions.
Before we can treat your pain, we need to understand the condition of your body and what your health concerns are. That happens through a detailed 40-minute initial session where one of our physiotherapists or chiropractors will precisely identify which muscles, joints, or ligaments need to be treated.
40-minute initial assessment session includes:
- Health Checkup
- Active Rehabilitation
- Treatment Plan Walkthrough
Follow-up treatment is quick and easy, taking 20 minutes in total.
Plus, as a non-invasive procedure, it doesn’t involve taking any painkillers or anesthetics, so you’re free to drive yourself to and from your sessions. When you arrive, your care provider will check in with you to see how your recovery is progressing, then you’ll receive about 5 minutes of direct shockwave treatment.
A thin layer of gel will be applied to your skin, then your care provider will gently use a shockwave therapy device – similar to a high-tech wand – to treat the identified area.
Some mild discomfort is normal, but if it’s more than you can handle, the level of intensity can be adjusted to something that you feel is more manageable.
Each person’s body responds differently to treatment, but in general shockwave therapy is most effective when it’s applied once per week for a period of 3 to 6 weeks.

It’s not a magic wand. But you might believe it is after your treatment!
