They are learning what all RMT’s know.
Many people looking to book with a non-registered therapist don’t realize that the therapists are actually in massage therapy school. Every student therapist at Revamp Wellness is currently awaiting their board exams or they are actively in the massage therapy program.
The process of writing board exams and waiting for your results can take months. Many students start practicing while they are still in school or waiting to become registered. This means they have gone through all the same schooling as a Registered Massage Therapist but simply haven’t written their final test yet.
They are excited to learn and teach you new things about your body.
Because you will be working with a student all the information is fresh in their brains; they are eager to learn, and excited to teach you. As you may have experienced, part of getting treatment with a therapist is being educated on your body. Why is my body acting this way? How do I fix my posture? How do I gain flexibility and strength with certain movements? What exercises should I do to help? Many of these questions can be answered by your senior student therapist.
They are easier to get into.
Our Registered Therapists have long waitlists and it can often take weeks or months to get an appointment. The one downfall to non-registered therapists is that we can’t bill to extended medical, WCB or ICBC. Because of this, they are not quite as busy as our registered therapists. This is convenient for patients if you are looking to get in urgently or you are waiting to get into your regular therapist.
The cost is lower but the value is great! Great for when you’re running low on benefits.
The cost of non-registered massage therapy is significantly lower than RMT’s because the appointment cannot be billed to extended medical. But this is great for patients who don’t have coverage, or are running low on coverage.
It’s great for in between regular RMT sessions.
Another great option is to see a non-registered therapist in between regular visits with your RMT for maintenance without using up all of your extended benefits. This way if a more complex problem arises you can visit your RMT for that!
