A Doula is a trained professional who provides support and information to the mother and family to help you achieve the best prenatal and birthing experience possible.
Dr. Jessica McGuire is here to support you and your partner during all stages of your pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum. She provides knowledge, guidance, and is here to comfort you with different modalities of treatment.
Your Doula can start working with you at any stage whether you are thinking of trying, starting to try, or already pregnant. Dr. McGuire can guide you from the very beginning with herbal medications, vitamins, or hands on treatment. She can also help you get on track with your period and ovulation cycle.
How Does My Doula Help Me Throughout My pregnancy?
There’s an extra level of comfort knowing you have another knowledgeable professional to alleviate some of the stressors of becoming a mom. You can reach out to your Doula at any time to ask her questions. Dr. McGuire helps you with preparing yourself mentally, emotionally, and physically while becoming a mom.
Before and during labor you will be provided with positional tools and ideas to get more comfortable. You will also be shown some breathing techniques and pressure points that your partner or yourself can press on to comfort you. Of course the process of labor is very emotional, exhausting, and exciting; your doula is there to help ease some of these emotions.
You might be going through this process with a partner, friend, or family member. Whoever it is, your doula will help guide them in supporting you through the prenatal and birthing process as well.
Sometimes in the delivery room things get a little overwhelming and we don’t have the confidence or capacity to ask the right questions to the doctor or nurse. Your doula can help you get the answers you are looking for or advocate on your behalf so you can make the best decisions for your process.
Is My Doula With Me At The Hospital During Delivery?
You will have three 60 minute appointments with your Doula during your prenatal period, two 60 minute appointments postpartum, and continued support during labor and post delivery.
What Kind Of Services Does She Offer Throughout My Pregnancy?
Dr. McGuire is trained in counselling, herbs, homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic manipulations, IV therapy, and hydrotherapy. She will use any or all of these modalities depending on what you need.
