If you have been injured while working, here is some information that we hope you find useful in you’re journey to recovery.
Do I have to pay for WSBC Physiotherapy Treatments?
At Revamp Wellness we direct bill WSBC for the physiotherapy sessions meaning there will be no out-of-pocket cost to you if you have a WSBC approved claim.
How man WSBC physiotherapy treatments do I have?
You’ll have as many physiotherapy sessions needed to rehabilitate you back to your pre-injury state. In addition, as long as you are benefiting and making functional gains, you’ll have enough treatments
WSBC pre-approves 15 physiotherapy sessions for the first 6 weeks after your injury date. If more treatment is required, the physiotherapist will submit a Treatment Plan. A Treatment Plan outlines your functional gains to date, what further functional gains we expect , and the number of physiotherapy sessions to accomplish this.
What information is needed for my first WSBC physiotherapy visit?
- WSBC claim #
- Injury/accident date
With this information, you can book a physiotherapy assessment (Book Now) and start treatment right away.
WSBC automatically approves a physiotherapy assessment if you are attending the appointment within 60 days of the injury date. If 60 days have passed from your accident date and you are having treatment for the first time, we will contact WSBC to have the first assessment approved.
Once approved by WSBC, these initial visits allow the physiotherapist to assess and treat you, while completing a Physiotherapy Treatment Plan to submit to WSBC. The treatment plan would include your critical job demands and duties, your current abilities and recommendation to return to work.
What can I expect from my physiotherapy sessions?
Depending on the stage of the injury (acute or chronic) the benefits of physiotherapy treatment include:
- Decrease in pain
- Increase in pain-free Range of Motion
- Increase in strength and cardiorespiratory endurance
- Improvement in balance and coordination
- Increase independence and function
- Accelerate return to previous activities (work duties)
What type of treatments can a physiotherapist perform?
Assessment
Our initial physiotherapy assessments offer a holistic approach to understanding your body’s unique needs and goals. We begin by reviewing your medical history and discussing any existing conditions. Through comprehensive evaluations, including pain assessment, movement analysis, postural assessment, and functional tasks evaluation, we gain insight into your physical health and functional abilities. From there, we collaborate with you to set personalized goals and develop a tailored treatment plan aimed at restoring function, reducing pain, and enhancing overall well-being. Our assessments are designed not only to identify issues but also to empower you with knowledge and tools for optimal health and performance. Start your journey to improved movement and a pain-free life with our expert physiotherapy assessments today.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy within physiotherapy involves hands-on techniques performed by skilled physiotherapists to diagnose, treat, and prevent musculoskeletal issues. These techniques include joint mobilizations, manipulations, soft tissue mobilization, and myofascial release, among others. Through precise and targeted manual interventions, physiotherapists aim to improve joint mobility, reduce pain, enhance tissue flexibility, and promote overall physical function. Manual therapy techniques are often integrated into comprehensive treatment plans alongside exercise therapy, education, and other modalities to optimize rehabilitation outcomes. By combining expert touch with scientific knowledge, manual therapy plays a vital role in restoring mobility, reducing pain, and improving quality of life for individuals seeking physiotherapy care.
Soft Tissue Release
Soft tissue release, a key component of physiotherapy, involves manual techniques aimed at addressing muscle tightness, adhesions, and restrictions. Through specific pressure and stretching techniques applied to muscles, tendons, and fascia, physiotherapists target areas of tension to promote relaxation, improve flexibility, and enhance tissue function. Soft tissue release is highly effective in alleviating muscle pain, improving range of motion, and facilitating recovery from injuries. As an integral part of physiotherapy interventions, soft tissue release techniques contribute to restoring optimal movement patterns and enhancing overall physical performance.
Personalized Care Plan
A personalized exercise plan crafted by a physiotherapist is tailored to an individual’s specific needs, goals, and physical condition. Through an initial assessment and thorough understanding of the client’s medical history, movement patterns, and functional limitations, the physiotherapist designs a structured program comprising targeted exercises. These exercises may focus on improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination while addressing any areas of weakness or imbalance. By incorporating progressive challenges and modifications as needed, the exercise plan aims to enhance overall physical function, reduce pain, and prevent future injuries. With guidance from the physiotherapist, clients can safely and effectively follow their personalized exercise plan to achieve optimal health and well-being.
Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) or “Dry Needling”
Intramuscular stimulation (IMS), also known as dry needling, is a specialized technique utilized by physiotherapists to address muscle pain and dysfunction. During an IMS session, fine, sterile needles are inserted into specific trigger points within muscles, aiming to release tension, improve blood flow, and alleviate pain. These trigger points, often associated with muscle tightness and referred pain patterns, are targeted to promote muscle relaxation and restore normal function. IMS can effectively treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including chronic pain, muscle strains, and myofascial pain syndromes. By stimulating the body’s natural healing response and promoting muscle recovery, IMS sessions are integral to physiotherapy treatment plans, facilitating pain relief and optimizing physical performance.
