Who is massage therapy right for?
Athletes: Massage post-workout can support muscles to enlarge and grow new mitochondria. Mitochondria are responsible for converting nutrients into useful energy. This can improve endurance performance by increasing the rate that muscles utilize oxygen as well as improving range of motion and recovery time.
Nurse: This can be for postural muscles, overused or fatigued muscles or stress relief and relaxation.
Office worker: A lot of people have desk jobs, and sitting 8-10 hours per day, plus travel time gives us plenty of time to create poor postural habits. Your RMT can release the muscles that are pulling you into poor positioning and guide you through strengthening exercises to balance out your posture.
Stressed: Massage helps reduce our levels of the stress hormone “cortisol”. Cortisol in excess amounts can cause weight gain, acne, slow healing, muscle weakness, and depression.
Difficulty Sleeping: RMT treatment will help reduce sleep disturbances by releasing tension that can keep you up at night.
What are the benefits of massage therapy?
Not only is massage therapy relaxing (most of the time), it has many other benefits. Massage therapy increases circulation which is essential for reducing pain and healing muscles faster. Studies have shown that massage therapy increases your white blood cell count which has a positive effect on your immune system.
- Decrease heart rate
- Decrease blood pressure
- Better recovery time
- Decreases anxiety
- Positive effect on mood
- Increases blood flow
- Increase flexibility
